Line Walker Refreshment

It is well known that high-voltage transmission line infrastructure needs to be regularly inspected. The inspection job consists of performing a visual checklist from the top to the bottom of the tower and along the entire conductor sag. Beyond checking for abnormalities in the installation, the Line Walker — the term for the officer who carries out this task — must also register objects within the right-of-way zone of the corridor, typically trees or tall structures near the corridor.

On a yearly basis, the company that supplies the Line Walker services is mandated to hold a refreshment event. This year, the event took place at each Unit Layanan Transmisi dan Gardu Induk (ULTG) across three cities: Jember, Bangil, and Probolinggo. Although the event is mandatory for the service provider, the agenda itself is important for aligning with the corporate vision in terms of ensuring system reliability and strengthening the health and safety of the officers.

The main topic delivered in the program was the importance of making inspection reports as accurate as the real conditions in the field. On top of that, Line Walkers must more actively conduct mitigation of foreign objects that may cause system faults. Beyond reminding officers about their responsibilities and quality of service, the gathering between Line Walker officers, company officials, and Unit Pelaksana Transmisi (UPT) as the end user also served as a moment to provide feedback regarding the completeness of work tools, obstacles commonly encountered during work, and opportunities for future improvement.

Here’s the photo gallery of that event.
